Image Optimizer for XF 2.0

Image Optimizer for XF 2.0 [Paid] 2.2.1

Do not attempt to run this addon on 2.3.0 until the author releases a version that is explicitly labelled as 2.3.0-compatible.
It can result in a significant number of optimized PNG images getting outright deleted from the filesystem, with the only fix being restoring the files from backup and disabling the addon.

I did, and I believe it resulted in a bug where a significant number of optimized PNG images got deleted from the filesystem. The only fix was disabling the addon and restoring files from backup.
WandererIt's one of the reasons I have not upgraded. The niche of my site webP is not that nice with the images.
It is also why I have not upgraded this add-on past the 2.1.7 version as there are known bugs with images going "poof" when latter versions are installed.
Not to mention the fact, until the developer clearly tells you that the add-on is 2.3 compatible, you should NEVER assume so. That is not an issue with the developer but with the website administrator.

I comment on the upgrade issue here.

Just start reading from here forward
Seems a lot of people have been having issues and for use with 2.2 have settled on 2.1.7 since it was the last stable one.
Since the main part of my niche is images, I don't want to take a chance on losing them so let others find the issues.
TD PerryThis sites running in version 2.2.0 without any errors. If you can give steps to reproduce it, it would help to debug and fixing.

TruonglvAs I said, I don't want to take the chance of losing a lot of images, so I've stayed on 2.1.7. You may want to engage with some of the people having issues on the XF forum. MattW is one that runs a hosting service and apparently he and some of his clients have had issues.

TD PerryOK. I will contact with him to investigate the issues

Even after:
1) installing addon version 3.0.0 and updating it
2) downloading the latest webp from https://developers.google.com/speed/webp/download and installing it
3) re-running the setup file
3) going through the addon's file path references for pngquant, jpegoptim, gifsicle and cwebp to verify they work and are updated

This add-on STILL deletes my image files, and in a way that prevents me from removing the broken images via the admin attachments interface, unless I manually re-create their missing *.data files.

Here's an example of the file deletion bug from the debug log:

Note that it SAYS it copied to internal-data://attachments/122/.... but it doesn't actually copy the file. It will happily update the database with the new file hash of the file, it will happily delete the old version of the file... but it won't save the new version of the file.

Wanderermaybe the deletion step can have a check to verify the file has been copied first?
