Image Optimizer on Dev and Live sites

We just purchased the following add-on: Image Optimizer for XF 2.0

We want to install it and test it on our dev site first.

Is is possible to install the plugin on our dev site and then again on our live site once we complete testing?

I did ask the developer about the addon linked above (5 days ago), but he gave no answer.
