Groups (especially not public ones) may have a thread on public forum (located in main forum index) to represent or advertisement such a group. Could you add an option to link that thread to the group (one thread per group should be enough)?
What exactly that would mean:
For example. Group A has custom field "A", while linked thread has custom field "B". Then custom field "B" from the linked thread would be connected with group custom field "A". Now if thread owner would update custom field "B", field "A" inside group also would be updated. Also if group admin would update custom field "A", then field "B" would be updated as well.
That would help to reduce redundancy.
What exactly that would mean:
- option to link one public forum thread to the group
- after that, group admin would have an option to link specific custom fields from group and that thread
- both linked custom fields would update at the same time, no matter which one was updated
