I think some behavior has changed with XF 2.1.2 when a post is scheduled in the future, anyone else see this?

Approval queue link shows at top of admin toolbar and indicates there is something in the queue. I click on it and get:

There is no content currently awaiting approval.

There are some changes in latest release. I will look up again your issues.

I scheduled a post again exactly the same and this time I did not see the approval queue issue come up, oddly.
