2.7.8 Terminology/Wording on the "Group Wall"

The wording on the group wall is partially very confusing and partially completely wrong...

This is totally confusing and wrong:
Bildschirmfoto 2017-09-12 um 17.03.21.webp

HOW IT SHOULD BE:

1) When a user joins the group, the Group Admin message now is "User XYZ joined this Group" – which is OK!

2) When a Group Admin INVITES a user, now it is "Group Admin ABC promoted User XYZ to Group Member" which is wrong... It should read: "Group Admin ABC invited User XYZ to join this group"

3) When a Group Admin APPROVES a user, now it is
"User XYZ promoted User XYZ to group member" which is totally wrong... and totally confusing... sounds like "anarchy"... lol. It must then read "Group Admin ABC approved User XYZ to become a group member"

4) Furthermore, if a Group Admin PROMOTES a user, it should read: "Group Admin ABC promoted User XYZ to [ROLE]" (so that the real group role like "Admin", "Member" etc is displayed)

Thanks!

Seem you are enabled this option for Member Role. So any users go to this role will posted new message to this.

truonglvYes, but it is still wrong. Because it posts the message when the user is INVITED and not promoted. Only IF the user accepts, he is "promoted" to "member role"... but this is very complicated to understand for the users and therefore confusing.

The messages posted on the wall should be as simple as:
  • "Group Admin ABC invited User XYZ to this group" (not "promoted" because the user first has to accept the invitation)
  • "User XYZ applied to this group" (this is actually more correct than "has joined" – because if he does not get accepted he did not join in the end)
  • "Admin XYZ promoted User XYZ to become Group Member" (not "User XYZ promoted User XYZ"... there is no "self-promotion")

I see this phrases... I already translated some...

The problem is the messages that come with different actions:

When a user is promoted to a group member, then the Message reads "User XYZ promoted User XYZ to Group Member"... that should read "Admin ABC promoted User XYZ to Group Member"... otherwise it looks like users can promote themselves.

As you see in the above phrase changes I made I already changed "is in the group" to "joined the group" which is more correct English (at least more understandable, because "is in the group" does not give a clue what actually happened...)

Forget everything from the stage Social Groups add-on is now and reset the phrases for the following actions please:

Wall post messages
  1. Action: User requests to join a group -----> Message: "User XYZ requested to join this group"
  2. Action: User was invited by someone in the group -----> Message: "User XYZ was invited by User ABC to join this group"
  3. Action: User was approved by admin -----> Message: "User XYZ was approved to join this group by Group Admin ABC"
  4. Action: User joined the group without moderation -----> Message: "User XYZ joined this group"
  5. Action: Multiple users were approved by admin ------> Message: "Users XYZ, ABC, DEF and (n) more were approved to join this group by Group Admin ABC"
  6. Action: Multiple Users joined the group without moderation -----> Message: "Users XYZ, ABC, DEF and (n) more joined this group"
  7. Action: User was promoted by admin -----> Message: "User XYZ was promoted to [ROLE] by Group Admin ABC"
  8. Action: User was banned by admin -----> Message: "User XYZ was banned from this group by Group Admin ABC"
  9. Action: User was removed by admin -----> Message: "User XYZ was removed from this group by Group Admin ABC"

....while of course you have to place the placeholders {user}, {users}, {name}, {role} accordingly...

Just an example of a incorrect message
promoted.webp

What actually happened was just that user 1 sent an invitation to user 2. It should just read like "User 1 invited User 2 to join this group". And when user 2 accepts the invitation, it should post "Group Admin ABC promoted User 2 to Group [Role]".
