cannot change the cover image in a social group

Browser: Chrome 58.0.3029.110
Device: Windows PC Win10 Pro 15063.296
Issue: cannot change the cover image in a social group

Steps to reproduce:

-go to a social group where you have an admin role, and has a cover image
-on the group's front page, from the gear icon at the bottom right of the cover image, choose 'upload cover'
-choose a valid image, click on 'delete the current cover', and hit 'save changes'
-the old image will still be presented for image placement and saved as the cover image
 
i have the same issue. already using the latest version. cannot change the old cover. i tried to use a new cover but after saving and reloading the page the old cover is still present. please FIX!
 
What I see happening in 2.7.3 is that it keeps saving, but never completes the process.

In console I see this:

This is on my site! It refers to https://nobita.me
 
I can save the cover on this site, but the 'save cover' function also has problems. It just keeps going until you click save another time. I see the same type error in the console.
