Implemented Show privacy upon creating group box hides more than just privacy settings when unchecked

When this is disabled you lose all of this from the group creation screen:

upload_2017-5-2_12-56-38.webp

So you lose the Membership Approval option and the posting approval options.

This is not granular enough, those should be separated away to their own display option checkboxes in the ACP.

------

Also, I really need to be able to specify the default options for Posting Approval (Membership Approval would be good too)

I have members creating groups with all the default settings, this means they're making groups where all posts must be approved by a moderator and then they don't know how to do it, so the posts go unseen and not responded to.

I would like to be able to set these defaults for a group category and then hide these options at the group creation stage. If it can't be done by category, then being able to do it for the whole groups system is fine for now.

Similar with the Membership Approval settings.

So, this check box works, to hide or show the membership approval options, which is a good start.

But there's no way for the admin to define the defaults like you can with the privacy. Which means even if hidden, they still all default to this:

upload_2017-5-13_17-59-22.webp

Which means if the admin want's the default to be anything different from this they have to manually edit each new group.

There should be a default setting for this in the category options, like there is for privacy:

This checkbox doesn't work properly either:

upload_2017-5-13_18-2-50.webp

This instead of hiding or displaying the Privacy options, it actually toggles the Posting Approval Options:

upload_2017-5-13_18-3-43.webp

There needs to be a seperate checkbox for the posting approval options and there also needs to be a way to set the defaults for these so that the admin can set them, and then hide them.

In the 2.6.6 i have made Membership privacy alway visible in form. It is look very useful for user want to create group

No, it's not good for admins that don't want to give users that choice.

You could keep the privacy option there, but ideally, I think what really needs to be done is there needs to be usergroup permission for each type of group a member is allowed to create.

I want members to only be allowed to create 'Open' groups, so that all the content is public and visible to the rest of the site.

It partially defeats the purpose of having all the content independently posted to a forum if it's all going to be hidden away in a closed group.

At least if the group is open, then content can be index by search engines.

Then if the admin wants to allow users to create closed or secret groups they need elevated permissions. This could only be available to members in premium user groups so that the admin can monetise this functionality.

So, new suggestion: Make the ability to create both closed groups and secret groups permission based, so the forum admin can set it that registered members can only create open groups.

Then, if they only have the permission to create one type of group, you could hide the privacy section completely at the group creation stage to make the form cleaner and easier to setup by hiding an option which they can't change.

If you want more control over that you must need custom addon for that. For community addon i cannot support all person requests:)

I understand you can't do everything :) But I don't think forcing groups to be open should require custom development.

It makes sense and I've seen other users request it. You need to think about how an admin wants to use your add on, as well as users. At $70 it's an expensive add on, giving admins a way to monetize by restricting the creation of closed and and private groups using permission is a selling point for you.

It's something you can advertise in the description as a feature that could allow admins to make back the money they invest in your add on.

Here's someone else requesting it in Snog's groups add on.

Edit: You already have permissions on private groups

Essentially all you need to do is add a permissions for closed groups and then the admin has control and can force only open groups.

If you want to an refund just give me your paypal address. I will refund it to you.

I don't want a refund Nobita, you have a very good add on here that I think is a really great and much needed addition to forums. I'm only trying to help you improve your add on and provide you with feedback, that's all. It's just a discussion about possibilities.

You've been making some really good changes recently, I'm actually very pleased with some of the work you've done on it recently. I hope you're able to continue the great work, even if you're not able to implement all of my suggestions. It's important to get the ideas out there so that other customers can also provide their thoughts and feedback :)
